News from the Wild: Beavers, beanies, & more!
Hello EverWild Families! We're excited to kick off November with a fascinating topic: beavers! These incredible creatures have had a significant impact on the environment, second only to humans. Throughout this week, your kids will delve into various aspects of beavers' lives, such as their physical attributes perfectly suited for their environment, their social behaviors, their remarkable engineering skills, and the reason why Indigenous Peoples referred to the November Full Moon as the Beaver Moon. And here's a little joke for you: What do beavers like to add to their salad? Branch dressing!
Parent Tip of the Week
We've already had some chilly days, and there are plenty more to come! Let's take a moment to reflect on how we (as adults) talk about cold weather. Do you catch yourself complaining about the cold or putting off outdoor fun until it warms up a bit? Interestingly, kids don't seem to mind the cold weather (as long as they're bundled up). In fact, they really enjoy it and have a blast even in the cold. If they hear us adults expressing our biases towards the cold, they might start feeling the same way, and that's not what we want. It can also give the impression that we only wait for perfect conditions to do things we enjoy and truly live life. But we want to send a different message - we embrace life to the fullest, no matter what the weather has in store for us. So, we invite you to join us in this effort to be mindful of the words we choose when talking about the weather. With that being said, please make sure your child is dressed for the weather of the day, and has back up items to stay warm in their backpacks.

Sponsor a Teacher
As the temperatures dip in the Treasure Valley, our educators find themselves taking off their gloves to help students, leading to chilly hands. Fortunately, we've got 5 sponsors on board to supply 5 educators with rechargeable hand warmers. Now, we just need 5 more sponsors! This not only lessens our environmental footprint but also ensures our teachers' hands stay warm and nimble. You can contribute by purchasing rechargeable hand warmers from our wish list and including your name. If you have a particular teacher in mind, feel free to mention their name too.
