Our Curriculum

forest school in Idaho

EverWild Forest School’s curriculum emphasizes child-centered, place-based learning and has been crafted, tested, and refined by our own team of certified teachers and experienced outdoor educators.

Following the principles of Place-Based Education, our curriculum leverages the immediate environment and local community to teach concepts in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and other subjects. This approach to education increases academic achievement, helps students develop strong ties to their community, enhances students’ appreciation for the natural world, and creates a heightened commitment to serving as active, contributing citizens.

Monthly Themes

A seasonal calendar showcasing topics for fall, winter, and spring. Fall topics include ecosystems, traditional forest skills, and animals in fall. Winter topics focus on winter adaptations, winter wildlife, and earth systems. Spring topics involve water, spring in the forest, and pollinators and foraging.

The seasons serve as the foundation from which all lessons and activities are built. Each student’s intrinsic motivation for learning is championed by their teacher, who customizes every lesson plan based on the interests and needs of the class.
