This week at EverWild, students are exploring streams & rivers, gaining a deeper understanding of riparian habitats and water quality. They will learn about diverse plant and animal species that maintain water quality and support biodiversity.

This week, students are learning all about Earth's water systems. Through hands-on activities, they are gaining a deeper understanding of the intricate balance and interconnectedness of Earth's water cycle.

Spring is a time of renewal and growth, and what better way to celebrate this season of wonder than by immersing yourself and your little one in nature's embrace? At EverWild, we're thrilled to invite you to join our Tots and Trees spring program, a nine-week journey designed to spark joy, curiosity, and connection with the natural world.

This week at EverWild, students will be learning about the fascinating forces of change shaping our natural world: weathering, erosion, and deposition. Weathering, the process of breaking down rocks and minerals, will be explored, highlighting the role of factors like temperature changes, water, and biological activity in this process.

We are thrilled to announce that the National Outdoor Learning Alliance has been selected as a recipient of the INL STEM Equity Grant from Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA) and Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) K-12 Education Programs.

This week, students will be exploring the intricacies of winter soil and the vital role of decomposers in ecosystem health. Additionally, the focus is on fungi, examining their fascinating diversity and significance. Moreover, some classes will engaging in the Great Backyard Bird Count, contributing to citizen science by observing and documenting bird populations in their local environments.

This week we will get our fill of animal tracks! Throughout the week, we will explore a wide variety of tracks from different animals and channel our inner detectives to uncover the secrets they hold. We'll also wonder about foot types, as well as the unique gait and walking patterns of these magnificent creatures!

Renowned as premier summer camps in the valley, EverWild camps are crafted to spark the imagination of young adventurers in a secure and enriching setting. Each week at EverWild ensures an unforgettable adventure, carefully curated to nurture a profound connection with nature, offering kids an opportunity to simply revel in the joy of being kids!

In February, we'll be taking our learning UP and DOWN, as we begin to explore the Atmosphere and Soils! Our weekly areas of focus include the Atmosphere, Tracks, Under & Above Us, and Forces of Change.

This week at EverWild, get ready to discover the "Coolest animals"! We will be exploring animals that have some incredible tricks up their sleeves to survive the Winter.

This week, we have an exciting event happening in the night sky - the Full Moon in January, also known as the Wolf Moon. Have you ever wondered how Full Moons get their names? Well, we'll be pondering that question together this week. And to make things even more interesting, we'll be diving deep into the world of wolves!

This week we will lift our collective gazes toward the big beautiful sky! We will investigate the Moon's phases, wonder about constellations, ponder the craters that dot the lunar surface, and spend some time with our heads in the clouds! Our imaginations will soar this week.

This week marked the culmination of an inspiring collaboration between the National Outdoor Learning Alliance (NOLA) and EverWild Forest School, as they concluded another successful series of day camps in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The aim was to foster a deep connection between children and the great outdoors while promoting joy and community.

In the heart of EverWild Forest School's commitment to outdoor education and personal growth, a recent in-service and professional development day became a pivotal moment for the teaching staff. Organized and led by the National Outdoor Learning Alliance, that day was not just about acquiring new skills but delving into a practice that promised to foster radical empathy among educators – the Narrative 4 Story Exchange.

As we bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, the entire EverWild Forest School team is filled with gratitude and excitement. What an incredible journey it has been, and we are thrilled to step into the promising year ahead with you, our cherished community!

The National Outdoor Learning Alliance is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant of $4,254 from the Whittenberger Foundation to initiate a groundbreaking afterschool program at EverWild Forest School in Boise. This program is specifically for children who come from low-income families, ensuring that outdoor learning opportunities are accessible to all. 

It's going to be a very sweet week and a perfect way to wrap up 2023, as this will be our final week of school for this year. We have loved spending these first few months of Forest School with your incredible children! Thank you for entrusting us with their presence!
