Forest School Approach

Did you know EverWild Forest School provides preschool, kindergarten, and homeschool enrichment programs at five outdoor classrooms across Idaho’s Treasure Valley?

Our approach is unlike any other program in the area.

We are proud to offer...

🌎 Place-Based Education- Place-Based Education (PBE) is an educational approach that focuses on using the local environment and community as a context for learning. It emphasizes the connection between students and the places where they live, work, and play. PBE aims to engage students in authentic, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences that enhance their understanding of the world and their place in it.

❤️ Safe & Inclusive Environment- Our safe learning environment provides physical and emotional security where every student feels respected and included. Our teachers foster this environment by building positive relationships with students, encouraging collaboration, and providing opportunities for student voice and choice.

🤸🏼‍♀️ Reasonable Risky Play- Our programs have an element of risk but are still safe and appropriate for each child's developmental stage. Risky play allows children to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and build confidence while also learning to evaluate and manage risk. Our teachers provide a safe and supportive environment for children to engage in reasonable risky play, while also setting appropriate boundaries and supervising as needed.

🌱 Nature Immersion- Our students are able to immerse themselves in nature every day. They disconnect from technology and the hustle and bustle of daily life to instead connect with the natural environment. Nature immersion is believed to have a range of benefits for mental and physical health, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and increasing feelings of happiness and well-being.

🤝 Community- Our school's curriculum is founded on the Power of Place, a belief in cultivating strong bonds within our community. We're not merely a forest school; we're a movement dedicated to establishing connections between people and nature through shared experiences.

🎓 Highly Qualified Teachers- Each EverWild team member is carefully selected to create a collection of passionate people with rich and diverse backgrounds that include credentialed teachers, biologists, childcare specialists, environmental educators, wilderness guides, and more! All of EverWild’s instructors are college graduates with extensive experience working with children, as well as CPR and First Aid trained. It is critical that every teacher serves as a role model of kindness, curiosity, and optimism while utilizing their thorough knowledge of the emotional and developmental phases of young children.
