News from the Wild: Outdoor camps, classes, and more!

Hello EverWild Families!

Hi Forest Families! This week at EverWild, students will be learning about the fascinating forces of change shaping our natural world: weathering, erosion, and deposition. Weathering, the process of breaking down rocks and minerals, will be explored, highlighting the role of factors like temperature changes, water, and biological activity in this process. Students will gain insight into erosion, the movement of weathered materials by wind, water, or ice, and its profound impact on landscapes over time. Finally, deposition, the settling of eroded materials in new locations, will be examined, revealing how it contributes to the formation of landforms such as beaches and river valleys. Through hands-on activities, observation, and exploration, students will have a deeper understanding of these powerful forces of change and their role in shaping the Earth's surface.

Parent Tip of the Week

Fostering your child's independence is a gradual and empowering process that starts with providing them opportunities to make choices and take on age-appropriate responsibilities. By allowing your child to have a say in decisions that affect them, such as choosing their own clothes or deciding what to eat for snack, you're not only respecting their autonomy but also encouraging them to develop decision-making skills.

Moreover, assigning age-appropriate responsibilities, such as tidying up their toys, setting the table, or feeding a pet, instills a sense of accountability and ownership in your child. As they successfully complete these tasks, they experience a sense of accomplishment, which boosts their self-esteem and reinforces their capabilities.

Through these experiences, children learn valuable life skills such as problem-solving, time management, and organization. They also gain a sense of independence and self-reliance, which are crucial for navigating the world with confidence.
