Position Title: Americorps Summer Camp Educator
Project Sponsor: EverWild Forest School (through the National Outdoor Learning Alliance)
Position Summary: EverWild Forest School connects children to the natural world, inspiring and creating healthy, active, and engaged citizens who choose to explore the outdoors responsibly. The Summer Camp Educator will support the program, build positive relationships with youth, and have the opportunity to create and facilitate their projects and lessons!
Member Activities/Duties:
fostering a cohesive teaching team with other Camp Educators
providing high-quality nature-based activities for youth
developing and utilizing skills in environmental education and environmental interpretation by: assisting with and leading group activities that complement a unique, place-based curriculum, actively guiding students in the outdoor classroom, and utilizing an inquiry-based learning process
assist with program recruitment and special events such as field trips, family engagement activities, and community service opportunities
help manage the day-to-day operational activities of a group of students
aid in the flow of students during transition times, troubleshoot challenges as they arise, interface with parents and site staff and provide a consistently safe and supportive environment for youth
Participate in required professional development. Topics include Sustainability, Family Engagement, and Lesson Planning and Implementation
Attend staff planning meetings and monthly AmeriCorps check-in meetings
Participate in recurring observations and debriefings
Project Location/Transportation Needs: Members will need to provide their own transportation to and from work locations in either Boise or Eagle, Idaho. Work location can alternate between the two stated locations weekly.
Dates of Service: 300-hour term from June 2024-August 2024. Camp Schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:45 AM-2:15 PM. Additional community outreach and community volunteer events will take place throughout the term.
