Winter Gear Guide
As the chilly winds and snowflakes start to dance, it's time to gear up and embrace the winter wonderland. Whether your little ones are building snowmen, exploring at forest school, or just enjoying a walk in the cold weather, we've got some winter gear recommendations to keep them warm and cozy while having fun!
Bundle Up with the Basics:
Insulated Jackets: Opt for jackets with quality insulation to keep your child warm without the bulk. Look for water-resistant or waterproof materials for added protection.
Snow Pants: Keep little legs dry and warm with insulated, water-resistant snow pants. Adjustable straps are a plus for the perfect fit.
Stay Toasty with Layering:
Base Layers: Thermal shirts and leggings are perfect for trapping body heat and wicking away moisture. Merino wool is an excellent choice for its warmth and breathability.
Fleece Mid-Layers: Add cozy fleece layers on top of base layers to provide extra warmth. Fleece is lightweight and retains heat well.
Protect Those Little Hands and Feet:
Waterproof Gloves or Mittens: Keep fingers toasty and dry with waterproof gloves or mittens. Look for ones with adjustable cuffs to prevent snow from sneaking in. These from Polar O. Pyret are some of our favorites for forest school because they’re fleece-lined and go up high over jacket sleeves. It is best to layer with a wool mid-layer glove like these.
Wool Socks: Wool socks breathe and keep feet warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. Wool is the only textile that offers this ideal balance despite changing temperatures, which makes it the ultimate sock all year long.
Insulated Boots: Ensure your child's feet stay warm and dry with insulated, waterproof boots. Non-slip soles are essential for snowy and icy conditions. Bogs are our go-to boot!
Warmth for the Head and Ears:
Insulated Hats: Choose hats that cover the ears for extra warmth. Look for fleece-lined options or those with built-in insulation.
Neck Gaiters or Scarves: Keep the neck protected from chilly winds with a cozy neck gaiter or scarf.
Functional Accessories:
Mitten Clips: We love these mitten clips to fasten mittens and gloves securely to coat sleeves to keep them from getting lost.
Hand Warmers: Rechargeable hand warmers and reusable hand warmers can be a game-changer on extremely cold days. Tuck them into gloves or pockets for extra warmth.
With the right winter gear, your kids can embrace the magic of winter with comfort. Let the snowflakes fall, and let the winter fun begin!
