Summer Outdoor Educator
Employment Dates: June 1st - 30th with the option to continue on as a sub or educator for Summer Camps and 2025/26 School Year Programs

About EverWild Forest School:
At EverWild Forest School, we believe in the power of nature to inspire and educate young minds. Our mission is to provide accessible outdoor education programs that connect children to themselves, their communities, and the natural world. We accomplish this through free play, a place-based curriculum, and full immersion in nature. Our programs take place entirely outdoors, regardless of the weather, on public land with city permits, as we do not have a traditional school facility.
Position Overview:
EverWild Forest School is partnering with the Boise School District to implement summer school programs! We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Summer Outdoor Educator for a four week period starting June 1, 2025. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with children in a nature-based learning environment, fostering curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world.
Work Schedule:
June 1 - 30th
Four days a week, 2.5 hour blocks each day
Must commit for the full four weeks
Optional additional hours as a substitute, with the possibility of continuing employment through the summer
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Engagement: Provide a safe and supportive environment for students participating in the summer school program. Foster positive relationships and encourage active participation in nature-based activities.
Activity Planning: Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate outdoor activities, games, and projects that align with EverWild Forest School's educational philosophy. Foster a love for nature through hands-on experiences.
Safety and Well-being: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants. Adhere to established safety protocols and emergency procedures. Ensure a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, Boise School District staff and EverWild Forest School staff. Provide regular updates on student progress and share highlights of daily activities.
Qualifications:
A passion for outdoor education and nature-based learning.
Alignment with our pedagogy and philosophy, which prioritizes child-led play and exploration while fostering warmth and connection
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to outdoor environments and changing weather conditions.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
Previous experience working with children.
CPR and First Aid Certification obtained before the start of employment.
Knowledge of the developmental needs of school-age children.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
Capability to hike on uneven terrain.
