News from the Wild: Earth is Incredible and Fall Break is Almost Here!
These Next Two Weeks
Ever wonder what makes the Earth work? This week, students will be learning about all of Earth’s systems - biosphere, geosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere - and how they work together to create our amazing planet! They will discover different ways to read weather, temperatures, and the importance of circadian rhythms in their daily lives.
Fall Break Reminder
No classes the week of November 24 to November 28
Classes resume the week of December 1
When classes resume we will be honing in on the spectacular animal adaptations happening all around us during this time of year. Students will assess and compare how different animals use migration, hibernation, and adaptation to stay alive and thrive in the colder winter months. Special focus will be on winter birds and a seasonal favorite, reindeer.
Parent Tip
The last weeks of November are flying by. This time of year can shift our minds into a stressful state: deadlines, finances, group gatherings and holiday travel seem to be around every corner. It can be difficult to maintain a family rhythm during the holiday season.
During the busyness of late fall into winter, I like to take moments to see the world through the eyes of my child. The excitement of puddles, the warmth of a hot beverage on chilled fingers, the glittering lights, and the anticipation of food and family. It is almost a grounding practice, but using my imagination or memories from childhood! Try it, and maybe you’ll feel the holiday stress or worry melt away. Maybe you’ll even go splash in some puddles, yourself!
If you are looking for some inspiration to stay connected to nature during Fall Break, check out our Fall Break Planner! It’s free to download and comes with a printable scavenger hunt, where you’ll collect nature items for crafting throughout the week. Share photos of what your family creates on our Facebook, through Brightwheel or via email at info@everwildforestschool.org. We would love to see how the season inspires you!
