News from the Wild: Amazing Animals in the Water and the Sky & Fun Fall Events
These Next Two Weeks
This week students will be jumping back into the waters to learn all about animals commonly seen along the Boise River banks – beavers! Students will analyze the social structure and outstanding engineering feats of these furry mammals, along with learning the lore of the Full Moon Beaver!
Next week is going to be moving back up high in the sky! From investigating seed dispersal and how waterfowl feathers repel water to identifying the attributes and adaptations of fierce raptors, students will be sure to come home brimming with amazing bird facts to share.
Parent Tip
Did you hear? We are at peak fall leaf color in Boise! Thanks to Daylight Savings Time, your family can look forward to a little bit more sunlight while enjoying the gorgeous crisp fall days.
This time of year, I find myself yearning to plan intentional connection with the seasonal shift. Last year, my family dipped beautifully colored leaves in beeswax to preserve their colors for a bit longer- then hung them up as leaf garlands around the house, and planted a few new fruit trees.
If you also find yourself seeking a deeper connection to changing seasons, why not gather with friends and family to celebrate the end of this season’s abundance, head out after dark to spot the second (of three) supermoons of 2025, or clean out some clutter to donate while cleansing your space of unused items? Fill November with gratitude for nature, for each other, and for our fellow Treasure Valley residents! Celebrating the changes of the seasons can be both meaningful and comforting for our children, and it might give you the opportunity to create a new fall family tradition.
